I was honored to attend the "Eye on Black": A Salute to Director's Award Dinner, celebrating and honoring our legendary African American Directors- Melvin Van Peebles, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Robert Townsend and Tim Story on Feb. 25, 2011, at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles.
Melvin Van Peebles was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the legendary and talented Sidney Poitier.
Mr. Peebles (born August 21, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actor, director, screenwriter and composer, and the father of actor and director Mario Van Peebles. Comedian, Kevin Hart was the host for this lovely evening!
